We went home to visit my family for the weekend and had such a nice time! It rained like crazy this morning right as we were leaving for church and the electricity went out. Unfortunately, it wasn't back on in time for Easter lunch so we ate at.....Wendy's! Nothing like a frosty and French fries! My sweet Cooper is getting so big! Isn't he just darling?

Welcome Spring!
Darren and I had the most wonderful time spending the weekend outside. I've been working hard planting bulbs, tubers, and seeds all over the place lately and it is good to see my hard work paying off. Darren is such a wonderful husband. He's been patient and encouraging with my plans for a vegetable garden. I'll have to post the plans and pictures of that soon. Saturday was absolutely beautiful!
We worked hard on the frames for my raised beds. Fortunately for us, the drill batteries didn't last very long. I took a cat nap on a blanket while Darren read a book waiting for it to charge back up again. Before that, Darren grilled hot dogs. YUM!!
Here are my flowers that we planted from bulbs along the fence. I'm coaxing Morning Glories to grow up the fence and across the top. Hopefully they'll be sprouting up very soon!

Stacy, my sister-in-law gave me the hummingbird feeder for Christmas. Come on little birdies! The weather was simply amazing all weekend. I'm out of tea bags for sweet tea now :) Mom is supposed to be coming to visit the second weekend in April and I can't wait! We're going to catch the last weekend for Dallas Blooms. Hopefully we can make it an annual tradition. I'll be posting pictures for the garden plans and the start of it next! Hurray for the first day of Spring today!

Enjoying the weekend
Last weekend we went to Hallsville. It was my grandmother's 75th birthday party which was a lot of fun. I was able to see my cousins and actually get the change to chat with them. A friend of our family asked if I wanted an old sewing machine and I said YES! It's pretty funny...I NEVER wanted to sew in the past. Luckily, my mom didn't hold that against me and she's answered multiple phone calls from me already. I love the old machine. I think it was made in the 1950's, but for then...it was pretty high end. Made in Italy! I downloaded the instruction manual, but the thing can also embroider! Yesterday, I ordered the 'encyclopedia of embroidery' book for the machine from a website called 'relics'. Nice huh? It's not beautiful...but it's sturdy (and weighs a whopping 30 lbs). My first project was some curtains for our front door. I had a SAD excuse for curtains pinned up there before (insert shameful face here). I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out. They aren't anywhere near perfect...but they're cheery!
On another note....
No one prepared me for saying good-bye to so many people in my job. One family is moving to Canada, therefore leaving us. They came up to work on Thursday at the end of the day and gave us each flowers and a sweet card. It's amazing and humbling to hear someone say "You changed our lives". In those moments, I know that every crazy, exhausting day is worth it. People will never know how much it means to hear that what we do actually makes a difference. I'm forever thankful for a career that blesses me in so many ways.

Melting....
So my parents came in on Friday to stay for the weekend! Unfortunately, when we woke up on Saturday it was already 80 degrees in the house at 7:36 a.m. They decided to go back to Hallsville after our family reunion, which is understandable. Here's a picture of my indoor/outdoor thermometer. Lovely huh?
Thankfully, Darren's parents were gracious enough to let us stay with them on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday night. I got a lot of knitting done and I also made a pin cushion! It was super easy!
I'm just thankful to be sleeping in my own bed in my own house again. I'm such a home-body :)
